cultivation theory looks at  the long term effects of media consumption. quote-" cultivation theory states that the more time people spend 'living' in the television world, the more likely they are to believe social reality portrayed on television."  this means perceptions of our general world are based heavily on the  images and ideological messages transmitted through popular media texts.
