Plan B at TEDxObserver

Notes on the Lecture;

  • Background knowledge on Plan B's childhood and the struggles he faced in his adolescent life.
  • Plan B's discontent with the current government and politicians.
  • Mentions of his achievements and goal in life.
  • The story of the making of the film 'ILL MANORS'

Notes on Plan B's beliefs/politics or values/ideologies;

  • The underclass civilians are misrepresented and demonised by the media.
  • Believes that talent and capability still lies within the neglected and underprivileged youth of the society
  • Plan B is not a supporter of the regimes carried out by the government that directly affect the children from council estates

 Target audience;
  • Aged 25-35 years old.
  • Educated and have a passion for learning and involvement within society
  • Middle class folks
  • The target audience are explorers and reformers in terms of psychographics
  • On the other hand, there would be extreme contrast with Plan B's regular audience such as fans of him as an musician with the viewers of Tedx.

  Media:
  • Stanley Cohen states that moral panic is “a condition, episode, person or group of persons emerges to become defined as a threat to societal values and interests.”
  • This can be used to support the focal point of Plan B' lecture as he believes that the government and media unfairly demonised groups from council estate in order to ignore their struggle and needs.
  • In addition, this reinforces the negative connotations and stereotypes of the underclass youth.
